An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Psychosexual Therapist to join our team and work within the Northumbria Sexual Health Service. The 15 hour post is based at the One to One Centre at Blyth Hospital site but may also be required to work from satellite outreach clinics in the county.

Our service provides clinic-based care and digital online services to patients requiring support with maintaining their sexual health including all forms of contraception, STI screening, treatment and psychosexual therapy as well as health promotion to the local population.

To support the delivery of the psychosexual service for NHCT. Providing a confidential and expert service to those patients experiencing sexual difficulties.

To role model com passionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and
collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.

To be comfortable in dealing with a wide range of sexual issues and can respond with sensitivity, empathy and maturity in the context of exposure to explicit and highly sensitive personal information and able to deal effectively and therapeutically with high levels of interpersonal conflict and emotional issues.

To provide specialist psychological assessments of individuals and couples referred to the psychosexual therapy service based on appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including referral information, in depth interview, self report and observation.

To formulate and implement plans for the specialist treatment of individuals and couples. The formulation to be based on complex factors related to the personal development of the individuals, their past experience and the nature of the dynamics that have shaped their
relationship. The implementation to take into account individual needs and circumstances, personal preference, health status, resources and motivation and to be informed by theoretical and therapeutic models, current evidence and the ongoing evaluation of the outcomes of the
intervention.

To make highly specialist clinical decisions and to exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the treatment, referral and discharge of patients.

To undertake risk assessments and risk management for individual clients with child protection issues and adult safeguarding issues.

To receive informed consent and to communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans to individuals and couples.

To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping, report writing and appropriate sharing of information in accordance with professional codes of practice, Trust policies and procedures and National guidelines.

To maintain advanced theoretical and practical expertise and be able to reflect in practice to identify individual strengths and development needs to ensure effective practice.

Undertake clinical and professional supervision and meet the requirements for ongoing professional registration.

To be familiar with the codes of ethics and current professional guidelines of the appropriate specialist professional organisation and to ensure their appropriate application within the service.

To maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and its implications for clinical practice and professional management in the specialist service.
