The Role
This role is the go-to person when it comes to anything the KOMI Studios Drama Team produces. Using your production, storytelling and leadership expertise, you will support your team in turning demand into engaging digital content.
As a confident and independent Senior Hybrid Producer, with exceptional skills in self shooting, directing, budgeting and workload planning, you will lead and line manage a team of Content Producers - helping solve problems with the team itself in addition to internal and external stakeholders. A typical week will consist of 40% producing content, 40% supporting the HoD with strategic support (including budgeting, reporting and target performance tracking) and 20% line management and support to the Drama Team.
In this forward-thinking leadership role, you will also drive our specialist offering further, exploring new revenue streams in vertical drama, scripted and non scripted formats and ensure we are always delivering the best quality for our audiences and our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Serving the team: Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to problem solve and continually drive quality - with a pragmatic solutions-focused mindset and a forward-thinking attitude.
- Oversee and mentoring: As one of the most experienced members of the team and a bridge between the Producers and Head of Studios, use your influence and experience positively and influentially to ensure the team are learning and growing. Use your knowledge and leadership and oversee the others workload, budgets and scheduling, to ensure a smooth production process.
- Incentivise your team: With support from Head of Studios, you will need to motivate and inspire your producers to work towards their targets, with a clear focus on quality, and the end goal is clear and communicated with ease.
- Schedule management: Be responsible for building the Drama division workload for your team, ensuring the team schedule is accurate, ensuring workload is evenly distributed and time is managed, kept up to date, accurate and reliable and all changes are communicated across the team and make sense.
- Pre Production: Plan productions meticulously to ensure a smooth running shoot, ensuring that all documentation - including storyboarding, call sheets, risk assessments and so on, is in place, locations and talent are sourced, budgets are kept under control, and PPMs are chaired.
- Production & Shooting: Confidence and knowledge in the ability to self-shoot content on iPhone and on camera, ensuring great composition, lighting, and audio, and ensure your team are fully equipped and trained and using best practice at all times, and health and safety is adhered to always.
- Post Production: Ensure yourself and your team are always organised, with timely footage downloads to shared drive following shoot to ensure the edit stage runs smooth and quality control checks are carried out to ensure standards are met. Your own editing skills may be called upon and required, and you must ensure your team are following process at all times.
- Proven experience as a Senior Producer, ideally with management/mentoring experience already in place.
- Proven experience in producing digital first content.
- Confidence to play an active role in forums with senior stakeholders.
- Reporting weekly on delivery vs expectations, maintaining a shoot calendar, output status and key wins/areas for development for the division.
- Fluency in managing tight deadlines, client expectations and working on a high volume of workload simultaneously.
- Confidence in problem solving and challenging the brief and ideation process, always striving to be better and for the best possible outcome.
- Confidence in reaching out to locations, casting agents and third parties, strengthening our freelancer database, negotiating costings.
- Confidence in budget control and ensuring costs are recorded and in line, the most cost effective route is chosen without compromise on quality, with a focus in the bigger commercial picture, to ensure profitability - reporting regularly on budget and commercial progress to the Head of Studios.
- Giving support to the Head of Studios and stepping up in their absence, managing upwards proactively and being ahead of the game with organisation, flagging concerns or issues well ahead of time with a proactive and agile approach, providing solutions where possible.
- Working closely with the other Leads in the department, working positively with the rest of Studios and the wider business and departments.
- Embracing mentorship and learning, being open to feedback and training opportunities, owning your own development and always striving to be better.
- From time to time it is expected that you will be happy to feature in content, where needed (in front or behind the camera) and a release form will be required to be signed.
- Flexibility and willingness to work overtime/weekends/public holidays should the need arise, time always to be given back in lieu.
- Full driving licence (own transport desirable, not essential).
