Job Description: Apprentice Playworker (Out-of-School Care)
Position: Apprentice Playworker (Term-Time & School Holiday Club)
Hours:
- Term Time: Split shift – 7:00am–9:00am & 2:30pm–6:00pm
- School Holidays: Full day – 7:30am–6:00pm
- Location: Kilburn, Belper
- Kilburn Schools Out Club
- Salary: Hourly rate dependent on age and experience
Contract: Term-time plus school holidays
About the Role:
We are looking for a friendly, responsible, and enthusiastic Apprentice Playworker to support children aged 3–13 years with school drop-offs, pick-ups, and out-of-school care. The role involves ensuring safe travel to and from school, as well as engaging children in fun, age-appropriate play and activities during breakfast, after-school and holiday clubs.
As part of this role, you will complete a Level 3 Childcare Qualification, Safeguarding Training, and Paediatric First Aid Certification—all fully funded by us! This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience while working towards a recognised childcare qualification.
Key Responsibilities:
✔ Safely escort children to and from school, following safeguarding procedures.
✔ Supervise and engage children in play, games, and structured activities.
✔ Assist with breakfast club and after-school/holiday club sessions.
✔ Ensure a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all children.
✔ Support children’s emotional and social development through positive interactions.
✔ Follow health & safety policies, including first aid if needed.
✔ Build positive relationships with parents/carers and school staff.
✔ Complete mandatory training and apprenticeship coursework.
Ideal Candidate:
✅ Enjoys working with children aged 3–13 in a playful, supportive way.
✅ Reliable, punctual, and responsible—must be trustworthy with children’s safety.
✅ Willing to learn and complete a Level 3 Childcare Qualification.
✅ Good communication skills (with children, parents, and team members).
✅ Able to work early mornings, afternoons, and school holidays.
✅ No formal qualifications required—full training provided!
