NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

This is a fulltime post of 37 hours per week, with a shift pattern of Monday to Friday (9am-5pm). We would also welcome applications from individuals that would prefer to work part time.

This is a fixed-term post for 7 months.

The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital is one of the largest acute hospitals in the UK and home to major specialist services such as renal medicine, transplantation and vascular surgery, with state-of-the-art Critical Care, Theatre and Diagnostic Services. The Royal Hospital for Children is adjoined to the adult hospital and has 244 paediatric beds with a further 12 neonatal beds in the maternity unit. This hospital provides a large number of specialist services to the West of Scotland and the wider population of Scotland in addition to a full range of secondary care services including cardiology and cardiac surgery, renal and bone marrow transplantation. For a number of these services, the children’s hospital is recognised as the sole provider in Scotland.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our friendly and supportive pharmacy team in the delivery of Clinical Trial Pharmacy services ensuring the safe and effective supply of medicines to patients. You will be an integral member of the Clinical Trials Pharmacy team working within in the main pharmacy department and also the Clinical Trials Research Facility here at QEUH. The post holder will liaise closely with the wider multidisciplinary team.

The successful candidate will undertake an SVQ in Pharmacy Services Group Award (at SCQF level 6) as per the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) requirements for the education and training of pharmacy support staff. They will also complete a comprehensive on the job training programme which lasts on average 18 months to be fully proficient within the pharmacy support worker role.

The post will be located within Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and the Royal Hospital for Children.

A proficient level of general education at National 5/Standard Grade level or above is essential.

Proficient IT skills including typing and knowledge of Microsoft office packages (word, excel), email systems (outlook) is essential

Experience in using stock control systems is desirable along with the ability to plan and organise workload to meet demanding needs of the service.

Previous experience in healthcare/ pharmacy or customer facing role.
