An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced midwife to join the Women’s Health Safety Team at University College Hospital Foundation Trust as the Perinatal Quality Improvement Lead Midwife on a permanent basis.

In this role, you will work closely with the Matron for Governance and Safety and the wider perinatal multidisciplinary team to lead both local and national quality improvement initiatives. You will also support the delivery of the national maternity agenda.

Key responsibilities include:
Leading quality improvement projects aligned with identified local risks and national priorities, such as the Saving Babies’ Lives Care Bundle, the Maternity Incentive Scheme and implementation of Martha’s Rule.
Ensuring supportive oversight of PSIRF, specifically focused on strengthening system functioning and improvement.

Promoting a culture of safety, learning, and continuous improvement.
Success in this role requires strong leadership in quality improvement that is patient-centered, data-driven, collaborative, and sustainable. You must be able to identify risk, drive systematic change, and maintain high clinical standards. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

You will bring a proven track record in leading or supporting quality improvement initiatives within maternity or women’s health services, using structured improvement methodologies to drive sustainable change. A deep understanding of governance processes, and compliance with national agenda for improvement. You should be able to use data and insights to inform decision-making and translate learning into tangible service improvements.

As a registered midwife, you will be committed to providing and promoting evidence-based, person-centered care. Your understanding of professional standards and regulatory requirements will ensure the delivery of high-quality care aligned with national best practice.

The role requires excellent organisational and analytical abilities. You must be able to manage multiple priorities, support audit and guideline development, and coordinate divisional quality strategies effectively. A proactive and self-motivated mindset will be key to success, as will a willingness to take initiative, support others, and embrace new challenges
