Job Title: Payroll Officer
Location: D-Hive LTD, Stretton, Hybrid working available
Reports to: Payroll Manager
Job Purpose:
This role is offered as a full-time, permanent role, based at our Head Office in Stretton, Burton upon Trent.
Our Payroll Team works to a hybrid model with flexibility to meet the demands of the business. The normal hours of work are 22.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with the understanding that additional hours may be required to fulfil the responsibilities of the role.
As a Payroll Officer you will adhere to specific deadlines, Legislative and audit requirements, whilst providing administrative support to the Payroll Team to ensure our weekly and monthly payroll is processed accurately and on time.
In addition, you will be responsible for responding to queries from employees and liaise effectively to resolve any discrepancies.
To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have the following:
· Experience of end-to-end processing of large weekly payroll
· NEST pensions experience
· Knowledge of current HMRC legislation
· Excellent attention to detail, quality, and accuracy.
· Proven ability and commitment to meet deadlines
· Proactive with a flexible and adaptable approach
· Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
· CIPP is advantageous
Key Responsibilities:
· Collating new starter, amendment and leaver forms.
· Data input of basic hours, overtime, holiday, and absences.
· Ensuring leavers are paid/deducted holiday pay.
· Dealing with payroll-related queries
· Payroll processing experience and an understanding of PAYE, tax and national insurance
· Maintaining accurate and up-to-date payroll records, including time sheets, pay slips, and other relevant documentation
· Ensuring compliance with relevant HMRC legislation, tax regulations, and company policies
· Ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies
· Answering employee inquiries related to pay, deductions, and payroll processes
· Preparing payroll reports
· Managing the on-boarding and off-boarding of employees within the payroll system.
· Processing absence-related adjustments to pay, including statutory sick pay (SSP), statutory maternity pay (SMP), and statutory paternity pay (SPP).
· Assisting with the administration of employee pensions; NHS pension experience is advantageous
