Overview
We are looking for Night Safe Officers to join our team. Night Safe Officers will patrol York city centre from 2000-0200hrs on Friday and Saturday nights from July through until January next year.
NSO's patrol the city on bicycles, wearing high visibility tactical vests and be equipped with body worn CCTV and communication devices to help them carry out their role effectively.
Duties
- Conduct regular patrols of the city centre , focussing on hotspot areas during the weekend night time economy.
- Respond to incidents across the city with a view to defuse and prevent disorder from continuing or taking place.
- Work closely with partner agencies including the Police, Street Angels etc
- Liaise with licensed premises across the city and build a strong rapport with Door Supervisors, sharing information which prevents crime and disorder.
- Be present, visible and reassuring whilst also signalling non-aggression and deterring potential ASB/issues that may arise.
Requirements
- Must hold a valid DS SIA Licence
- Strong conflict management skills , aimed to de-escalate and defuse situations
- First Aid trained
- Ability to communicate well, using a radio, written communication and when interacting with others.
- Undergo screening inking with BS7858
The role is currently deployed on a Friday and Saturday night between 2000 and 0200hrs.
