The control room operator is accountable to the control room supervisor for the scheduling of security officers, monitoring check calls, responding to telephone and email queries and a variety of alarm and CCTV monitoring functions in addition to administration duties. This will include compliance, statutory, contractual and company regulations and processes.
The control room operator will ensure exemplary standards of security and customer service are provided to the clients and sites at all times. The Security Operations Centre (SOC) is a high-pressure environment, and you will demonstrate a high degree of common sense with an excellent attitude and behaviour skill set to match. A four-on-four off shift pattern is worked covering 12-hour night shifts, this will include weekend and bank holiday working, the successful applicants will also be required to cover a degree of holiday and sickness cover.
Role Responsibilities
· Dealing with Intruder, Fire alarms and proactive CCTV monitoring on the alarm handling software. Acknowledging activations and allocating local resources as required.
· Assisting engineers testing on a daily basis and putting the correct systems on/off test.
· Be professional, pleasant, friendly, courteous, and helpful at all times whilst performing duties to the highest levels and interacting with staff, client staff and visitors.
· Display exemplary standards in personal grooming, strictly adhering to the uniform requirements of the role.
· Ensure a timely response to all security issues, incidents and emergencies and support the SOC supervisor with escalation procedures and processes. Including real-time updates to relevant parties and persons.
· To develop excellent working relationships with our onsite customers, visitors, and contractors ensuring all site procedures / policies are adhered too.
· To consult closely with statutory authorities, dealing with alarm and CCTV incidents and the provision of information to a variety of specific individuals and organisations.
· To assist and support the SOC Supervisor to deliver a proactive and effective control room service to all service users.
· Maintain continuous monitoring and proficient use of multi-site radio systems adhering to correct radio procedures at all times.
· Diligent management and maintenance of site records/ incident logs/ reference materials including Health & Safety records, Incident Forms, and the site Daily Occurrence Book
· To provide regular liaison and timely feedback to the management team on all aspects of service delivery, implementing effective solutions and corrective action to enhance the service.
· Maintain the integrity of the SOC environment ensuring respect for the nature of the SOC operational objectives.
· Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to meet the needs of the business.
The Ideal Candidate
Essential:
- SIA Front Line CCTV (PSS) Licence
- Will need to be flexible and committed to their duties
- PC literate, a good level of knowledge of Microsoft products is essential (word, excel and outlook)
- Will have the ability to work with IT systems of various types including alarm response, access control and intercoms
- Polite, positive, professional, and proactive attitude
- Experience of time management / prioritising
- Good telephone manners and have the ability to remain calm when dealing with serious incidents and difficult customers
- Good standard of spoken and written English
- Previous security control room experience
Desirable:
· Good general standard of education
· Professional or further qualification in the Security Industry.
· Hold a current driving Licence
· Current SIA Door Supervisor licence
