We are seeking a Family Resource Worker to support and assist the delivery of MST-CAN Interventions, working alongside MST-CAN therapists, and contribute to reducing the number of children and young people entering care.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist MST-CAN Therapists in assessing and conceptualizing referral behaviours, emerging problems and developing and implementing interventions using the MST Analytic Process.
  • Assist clients in practical needs such as housing, budgeting, job attainment, and prosocial recreational activities.
  • Support the collection of urine drug screens and/or breathalysers for parents or youths who are abusing substances.
  • Perform safety checks in collaboration with the MST-CAN Supervisor or MST-CAN Therapist, respond to emergencies, and implement crisis plans.
  • Build relationships and work effectively with colleagues from other disciplines and community stakeholders (i.e. Child Protection Services, legal advisers, judges, schools, etc.) to ensure cooperation among service providers.
  • Ensure case records are up to date and inputted in a timely manner providing reports for the MST-CAN Team and other agencies.
  • Participate in all MST CAN training, supervision and consultation activities.

The Person

  • Educated to SCQF level 7, which includes HNC or Advanced Highers or equivalent, in one of the relevant fields of Social Work, Health or Community development.
  • Knowledge and Experience with Child Protection processes.
  • Demonstrate experience working with families in community based, in home settings.
  • Demonstrates considerable success in engaging hard-to-reach families, with strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to remain calm and defuse difficult or volatile situations.
