Job Description:
We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and tech-savvy Shop Assistant & Repair Technician to join our growing team in Hitchin. This dual-role position involves assisting customers in-store and carrying out repairs on a wide range of devices, including mobile phones, tablets, laptops, PCs, and other electronic gadgets.
Key Responsibilities:Customer Service & Sales (Shop Assistant duties):
- Greet customers and provide excellent face-to-face service
- Understand customer needs and recommend suitable products or services
- Manage till operations, handle payments, and process transactions
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the shop floor
- Keep up-to-date with product knowledge, promotions, and new arrivals
Technical Repairs:
- Diagnose and repair mobile phones (screen replacements, battery issues, charging ports, etc.)
- Repair and troubleshoot laptops, computers, tablets, and other electronic devices
- Perform software installations, virus removals, and system optimisations
- Test devices post-repair to ensure full functionality
- Maintain detailed records of repairs and parts used
- Handle devices with care and maintain a clean, organised repair workstation
Requirements:
- Prior experience in device repair (minimum 1 year preferred)
- Strong interest in technology and electronics
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
- Attention to detail and a problem-solving mindset
- Basic IT and software troubleshooting skills
- Punctual, trustworthy, and customer-focused
Desirable but Not Essential:
- Experience with micro soldering and motherboard-level repairs
- Knowledge of data recovery and backup tools
- Retail or sales experience in a similar environment
