A vacancy has arisen for our Hampshire County Council funded Passenger Transport Service. The driver will work as part of a team, supporting the passengers in Farnborough and Aldershot. You will work one week on and one week off:
Tuesday 08.45 - 16.45 including break, 2 per month
Thursday 08.45 - 16.45 including break, 2 per month
Saturday 08.45 - 13:15, minimum 2 per month. Opportunity to do more.
Additional hours will be available.
Duties:
To drive accessible minibuses transporting elderly, disabled and people without access to public transport on the Fleet Connect service operated by Rushmoor Voluntary Services.
Some passengers accessing our transport services may be unable to use public transport and will require assistance (wheelchairs/scooters/disability aids).
Place of work: The driver will pick up the minibus from our office in Farnborough and then be based in Farnborough and/or Aldershot. Bus is returned to depot each afternoon.
Requirements:
- Clean driving licence, held for at least 3 years. Your licence should include D1 entitlement for at least the next 2 years.
- Ideally a MiDAS qualification, or we can arrange.
- A knowledge of the local area is advantageous although not essential.
- Good IT skills for Sat Nav/Google Maps, WhatsApp & Emails.
- To be able to safely manoeuvre passengers in wheelchairs and scooters on and off the vehicle using a tail lift. This also includes securing them in the vehicle which involves being able to bend and kneel in a confined space
- To be able to safely stow and secure shopping bags and trolleys
- To be respectful and supportive to the passengers, particularly those in need of assistance boarding and leaving the vehicle
- Have experience in basic cash handling and accounting for fare/bus pass collection
- To take regular First Aid Training provided by RVS (every three years)
- The post is subject to enhanced Disclosure and Barring check
- Undertake routine safety checks on vehicles and vehicle cleaning
- When there are significant gaps in the bus schedule, you may be required to return to the office to undertake additional tasks relating to the RVS Transport services.
- From time to time employees may be required to undertake such other duties as the employer may reasonably require
About You:
You will enjoy driving and have a calm and patient disposition. You will get on well with older and/or disabled people and understand the difficulties they may face. You will enjoy working as part of a team, but be confident when working alone out on the service.
Holiday Entitlement:
Currently 20 days per year plus Bank holidays (pro-rata). An additional 3 days leave is given to be used between Christmas and New Year. The current contracts for Community Transport, require services to run on these days, so any time worked will be gifted back to be used in January.
