Job Description:
The Learning Zone is seeking a passionate and experienced Mechanic Tutor to deliver vocational qualifications in vehicle maintenance and repair, aligned with Edexcel Pearson Level 1/Level 2 Certificate in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (600/1494/3 or 603/1955/1) and NCFE Level 1/2 Motor Vehicle Maintenance qualifications. This exciting outreach programme is specifically designed for SEMH secondary school children.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in encouraging young learners to develop practical skills in the automotive industry and support their educational and personal development journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver Edexcel Pearson and NCFE accredited vocational mechanic courses including practical vehicle maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair to SEMH secondary school students from 9:30am - 2:30pm Mon - Fri.
- Tailor lessons to meet the individual needs of students and encourage hands-on, practical learning experiences.
- Promote positive engagement with students and foster a supportive and motivating learning environment.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain records of student progress and attendance.
- Collaborate with other staff members to support students' educational growth and personal development.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- Edexcel Pearson Level 1 or 2 Certificate in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (600/1494/3 or 603/1955/1) or NCFE Level 1/2 Motor Vehicle Maintenance qualification.
- Teaching Qualification: Minimum Level 3 Award in Education and Training or equivalent.
- Assessor Qualification: (e.g., TAQA, A1, D32/D33).
- Experience working with SEMH students or in an alternative education setting is highly desirable.
- Strong practical knowledge of automotive systems, vehicle diagnostics, and repairs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and inspire students.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience delivering vocational courses to secondary school students or within outreach programmes.
- Ability to use IT tools to enhance learning and assessments.
- Commitment to personal development and continuous learning in education and training.
