Manager, Project Assurance – London
AustralianSuper, the largest pension fund in Australia and one of the top 20 globally, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager, Project Assurance, to join our growing London office. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in supporting our global operations and driving best practices in Project Assurance as we continue our international growth.
Purpose of the Role
As Manager, Project Assurance, you will be accountable for enhancing and protecting organisational value by providing risk-based, objective assurance, advice, and insight specifically related to projects and change initiatives at AustralianSuper. You will deliver independent, high-quality assurance and advisory services that add value and improve project performance, focusing on risk management, control, and governance throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Represent the Project Assurance function within the London office, acting as a trusted advisor to Project Sponsors and Delivery teams, offering guidance and challenge to projects where needed
Maintenance of the Project Delivery Framework, working with the global Project Assurance team and Practice Senior Managers to manage the upkeep and continuously improve the Project Delivery Framework.
Lead project assurance activities in alignment with the project assurance plan (in collaboration with the Global Project Assurance team), to support Project Sponsors and Delivery teams
Work with the global Project Assurance team to identify any overarching trends in project execution that need to be addressed to enhance delivery success.
Develop a risk-based global project assurance plan in collaboration with specialist functions, considering key risks and issues.
Conduct assurance reviews as per the approved plan, providing final reports to project management, the FAC, and relevant Committees.
Ensure timely tracking, monitoring, and reporting of findings, recommendations, and action plans arising from project assurance reviews.
Collaborate with Risk Partners and other stakeholders to support effective implementation of agreed actions and foster cross-functional assurance.
Stakeholder Management
• Nurture and maintain internal relationships across all levels of the Fund enabling you to collaborate effectively with sponsors to ensure that their projects are successful.
Governance and Compliance
• Ad-hoc participation in Project Steering Committees to ensure that effective governance is taking place within these forums in the form of meaningful discussions on projects’ status, delivery/delivered risks, project issues and mitigation plans, including “path to green” for those initiatives that are at risk.
• Operate and make decisions in line with the Fund’s Policies, Standards, Procedures, Key Decision Registers and the delegated authorities.
Candidate Profile
Whilst we don’t anticipate every candidate will have al of the below experience, we are looking for individuals who demonstrate:
3 + years’ experience in a project assurance role, centralised responsibility for project assurance of multiple complex projects.
7+ years of experience in projects with a preference for Financial Services experience.
Strong background and knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices
Experience in the initiation of new projects and how to set up effective governance.
Demonstrated experience working with Senior Leaders with an understanding of how to work effectively with global stakeholders in large complex organisations.
