Morar Lodge Nursing Home is a privately run Nursing Home providing excellent care for the older person within the local community
The Role:
Reporting to the Care Services Manager, the Maintenance Operative carries the responsibility for ensuring the upkeep, safety and smooth operation of the Nursing Home's facilities and grounds. This role involves performing a variety of maintenance tasks to maintain a safe, clean and conducive environment for Service Users, staff and visitors.
Duties include:
- To ensure that all parts of the environment are safe, welcoming, clean, hygienic, in good repair.
- To provide a high professional standards of record keeping, and reports related to the site.
- To participate in and undertake regular audits of the quality systems as necessary eg heating, plumbing and electrical.
- To undertake regular inspections and address works from contractors which fall below required standard.
- To ensure compliance with all current and prevailing national regulations and inspection standards, relevant to core functions, for this type of establishment.
- To ensure compliance with all current and prevailing national regulations for Health, Safety and Environment and the standards of the regulatory body for inspections
- To take responsibility for, and manage Maintenance of your work load, to provide effective and pro-active works
- On a weekly basis test fire alarms, emergency lighting and other safety equipment.
- To identify projects around the facility that will improve the image, functionality, and operational use of the facility.
- To ensure that projects are completed within programme, and that areas occupied by contractors / suppliers are left in good condition.
- To manage the up keep of the grounds
The weekly work routine will be discussed with the Care Services Manager at interview.

A trade background preferred but not essential
Requirements for PVG Scotland and reference checking will be undertaken in line with government regulations and safer recruitment best practice. Whilst we endeavour to keep the recruitment process as short as possible due to the nature of these important checks it may extend the processing time.
