Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Handyman to join our factory team. This job will be based on the factory floor. This role is responsible for performing routine maintenance, machinery repairs, general facility upkeep, and fabrication work as needed. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in mechanical repairs, a good understanding of industrial equipment, and the ability to carry out a wide range of maintenance tasks across the factory. This position plays a key role in ensuring minimal downtime, maintaining a safe working environment, and supporting the overall efficiency of factory operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections, servicing, and repairs on factory machinery and mechanical systems.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out necessary repairs to minimize downtime.
- Replace worn or defective machine parts using hand tools, power tools, or fabrication techniques.
- Collaborate with production teams to schedule preventive maintenance.
- Carry out minor building repairs, including fixing doors, walls, flooring, plumbing, and lighting.
- Maintain and repair factory infrastructure (e.g., workstations, racking systems, safety barriers).
- Troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues reported by staff in a timely manner.
- Perform basic fabrication using welding, cutting, and grinding tools.
- Manufacture or modify brackets, guards, supports, or other components as required for machinery or infrastructure.
- Read and interpret basic engineering drawings or sketches for fabrication work.
- Follow and document preventive maintenance schedules for machinery and equipment.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and log all work performed.
- Ensure all service plans are up to date.
- Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards during maintenance tasks.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Ensure proper storage and inventory of maintenance tools, materials, and spare parts.
- Adhere to factory safety protocols and promote a safe working environment.
- Identify and report any safety hazards, faulty equipment, or unsafe practices.
- Assist in the implementation of safety improvements related to machinery and facility maintenance.
- Respond promptly to urgent repair requests to minimise production downtime.
Experience needed
- Proven experience (2+ years) in a maintenance or handyman role within an industrial, factory, or manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience in mechanical repairs of industrial machinery, including troubleshooting, servicing, and part replacement.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and maintenance record-keeping systems.
- Demonstrated skills in basic fabrication and welding as well as the use of cutting, grinding, and drilling tools.
- Experience in performing general facility maintenance tasks such as plumbing, carpentry, and minor electrical repairs.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, maintenance manuals, and technical schematics.
- Solid understanding of workplace safety practices and hazard identification.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment safely and effectively.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced industrial setting.
