The role


Here at Northumbria Police, we think our region is amazing! This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Digital Department as a Litigation Assistant.


As a Litigation Assistant you will be responsible for managing Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) and police property cases, ensuring accurate and timely handling of legal processes. You will provide a comprehensive administrative and operational support to the Operational Policing Team and the Senior Lawyer, contributing to the effective delivery of legal services within the department.


What you’ll do



  • Lead on POCA applications, including cash, listed assets, and account freezing orders.

  • Act as main contact for all POCA-related legal proceedings and police property matters.

  • Liaise with Financial Investigators, officers and courts to meet legal deadlines.

  • Manage and review own POCA caseload daily to ensure compliance.

  • Maintain diary to track and complete all time-sensitive legal tasks.

  • Maintaining Court Diary for all operational cases and liaising with solicitors to arrange court cover and instructing Counsel where necessary.

What you’ll bring



  • Knowledge of police legal work and court processes procedures.

  • Experience in case management and legal administration.

  • Familiarity with relevant Force systems and processes.

  • Ability to organise and manage work on a daily basis to ensure time limits are adhered to and to work in a time critical environment.

  • Ability to work unsupervised and demonstrate knowledge of operational areas to provide advice and guidance and solutions to problems.

  • Ability to work independently and with all members of the Operational team and provide support in all areas.
