Learning Support Assistant

Empower young learners to achieve their potential

Summary
A rewarding opportunity has arisen for a Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive mainstream school, working with pupils who have SEND. This long-term temporary position offers the chance to make a real difference in children’s lives, with the potential to progress into a permanent role for the right person.

The Role
The successful candidate will provide dedicated one-to-one and small-group support, helping pupils with SEND to engage positively with learning and develop their social and communication skills. The role involves adapting learning tasks, promoting emotional regulation strategies, and supporting positive behaviour. You will work closely with the SENCO, class teachers, and parents to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment tailored to individual needs.

The Ideal Person
A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification is required for this role. Experience supporting children or adults with SEND in an educational, care, or similar setting would be highly beneficial. The school is also keen to hear from individuals with backgrounds in health and social care, youth work, or support work who are looking to bring their expertise into the classroom. Key qualities include patience, empathy, resilience, and a flexible, proactive approach to supporting children with additional needs.

The School
This is a welcoming and inclusive mainstream school with a strong focus on supporting pupils with additional needs. The school values teamwork, collaboration, and a child-centred approach, creating a nurturing environment where every child is encouraged to succeed.

Hours
Monday to Friday, 8.30am–3.30pm. Both full-time and part-time applications are welcomed.

The Benefits

If you are passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of pupils with SEND, this is the perfect opportunity to bring your skills and enthusiasm to the classroom.
