Learning Mentor – Trainee Tutor
Hours: Term Time Only – 8:30am–4:30pm
Reports to: Stable Futures Centre Manager
Salary: £23,000 – £25,000 per annum
Are you passionate about helping young people thrive, even if you've never taught before? This is more than just a job – it's a chance to grow into a meaningful career where you'll support and inspire learners with special educational needs (SEN) and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
We’re looking for a Learning Mentor to join our team as we launch our new City & Guilds accredited programme in September 2025. You don’t need teaching experience — just a commitment to learning, growing, and making a difference. All training will be provided to help you develop into a Lead Tutor over time.
What You’ll Do:
Learn and Grow
- Work under the guidance of our Centre Manager and Learning & Development team to gradually build your confidence in planning and delivering sessions.
- Receive hands-on training in delivering Entry Level Functional Skills (Maths and English) and Employability Skills.
- Learn how to support the accreditation process with City & Guilds and understand what makes an accessible, inclusive curriculum.
Prepare for the Future
- Support learners in developing practical skills for life beyond Stable Futures, including careers advice and employability preparation.
- Help facilitate meaningful experiences that build independence, confidence, and readiness for next steps.
- Contribute to building links with local employers, colleges, and training providers.
Be a Positive Role Model
- Support the emotional wellbeing of learners through a nurturing, therapeutic approach.
- Promote resilience, positive relationships, and personal growth in a calm, consistent environment.
- Champion the voice of each young person in planning their journey.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential
- A genuine passion for working with young people and helping them succeed.
- Willingness to learn and grow into a Lead Tutor role.
- Good communication, teamwork, and organisation skills.
- Patience, positivity, and a calm approach.
Desirable (but not required)
- Any experience in youth work, alternative education, or support roles.
- An interest in SEN/SEMH education or therapeutic approaches.
- A flexible, creative mindset and willingness to work in a hands-on, outdoor environment.
If you're ready to start a rewarding career path in education — and you’re ready to learn — we’d love to hear from you.
