Job Title: Leadership Academy Continuous Improvement Support

Salary: The starting salary is £34,808, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.

The salary is broken down as £31,880 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £34,108. Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Location: Central London locations, Hendon, Marlowe House, NSY and potentially other locations across the MPS


The role holder will be responsible for continuous improvement to the design, presentation and accessibility of leadership programmes within the Met Leadership Academy.

Working collaboratively with quality assurance teams, facilitators and the Course Programme Manager and Course Programme Lead to:

  • Implement design iterations in line with the course objectives to maximise the learning experience.
  • Improve access to online materials and user experience of LMS.
  • Develop and refine immersive learning products.

Essential For The Role

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAT, DSAT) and adult learning principles to ensure learning experiences are impactful, relevant, and sustainable.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement principles and how this supports effective training design.
  • Ability to articulate complex information/concepts into clear, concise, and engaging content that is tailored to different audiences.
  • Understanding and proficiency in the use of content design tools.
  • Learning and development background desirable – to understand delegate engagement, culture and leadership.

Experience:

  • Experience in content design and continuous improvement, including structuring and presenting information in a way that enhances learner understanding and engagement.
  • Experience in implementing learning products using immersive components such as Hydra, Virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR).
  • Designing and reviewing content that is accessible for diverse groups.
  • Analysing and interpreting data from an array of internal and external sources to provide recommendations for design improvements.
  • Driving change, including coming up with innovative approaches and challenging current practices to establish the best possible solutions.
  • Identifying, managing and escalating risks.

Skills:

  • Content design and continuous improvement across different learning environments and products.
  • Ability to develop engaging, high-impact leadership development programmes and training materials using feedback analysis and other evaluative methods.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office – PowerPoint, Word & Excel.
  • A positive and creative mind-set.
  • Storytelling skills and ability to articulate challenging concepts to different audiences.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Confident to bring own ideas to the table and contribute to a continuous learning environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills, working with subject matter experts (SMEs), designers and wider L&D teams to develop impactful content.
  • Horizon scanning in order to recommend appropriate interventions in response to internal and external influences.

Desirable skills:

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suites (Premier Pro, Photoshop, Acrobat).
  • Evaluation.
  • Culture change expertise.
  • Hydra / VR & AR / Immersive learning platforms.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Instructional Design, Education, Learning & Development, or a related field. (desirable)
  • Professional certification in instructional design or training (e.g., CIPD Level 3-5) (desirable)
  • Experience in project management related to learning initiatives – preferably (but not essential) with formal project management training (e.g., Prince2, Agile, or similar).
  • Membership of a professional body like CMI, IoL, or CIPD is preferable.
