Landscape Project Officer
Based in Bovey Tracey and Princetown, Devon
This is a full-time (37hrs p/wk) position, for a fixed-term until 30th September 2026. The role is based at the Dartmoor National Park Authority (DNPA) offices at Parke and Princetown.
About us
DNPA is the body that oversees the vibrant, living, working landscape and community that is Dartmoor. We help to conserve and enhance the biodiversity, cultural heritage and landscape of Dartmoor and provide opportunities for people to enjoy the countryside, as well as supporting our local communities and the rural economy.
About the role
Are you an organised, proactive individual with a passion for the environment? Do you thrive in a role that combines project co-ordination, communications, and administration? We’re looking for a Project Officer to support the delivery of projects within our dynamic Conservation and Land Management team.
In this vital role, you’ll help bring environmental projects to life by providing essential support across contract management, financial administration, communications, and stakeholder engagement. You'll be a key player in ensuring our conservation and land projects are delivered smoothly, on time, and with maximum impact.
What you’ll be doing:
- You’ll support contract co-ordination—helping commission, track, and manage contracts while ensuring compliance with relevant guidelines.
- You’ll take the lead on communications, creating engaging content and sharing updates across newsletters, social media, and websites.
- Organising meetings and events will be part of your role, including preparing materials, arranging logistics, and taking minutes when needed.
- You’ll assist with financial administration—processing invoices, supporting budgets, and helping with regular reporting.
- Finally, you’ll work closely with a wide range of partners, contractors, and the Dartmoor farming community to ensure strong collaboration and positive outcomes across all projects.
Benefits
- Salary of £29,540 - £33,699 per annum
- Flexible working arrangements
- Generous annual leave allowance plus public holidays
- Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme
- Based at our stunning HQ on the National Trust’s Parke estate near Bovey Tracey
- Free staff parking and National Trust café on site
About you
The successful applicant will be passionate about supporting projects that deliver real environmental impact, with strong project administration skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset. They’ll be highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to communicate clearly and confidently.
Experience in creating engaging content for websites, newsletters, and social media is essential, along with the ability to adapt messages for different audiences and channels.
While a background in conservation, farming, or ecology is desirable, it’s not essential—we welcome candidates from a variety of professional backgrounds who share a commitment to environmental work and want to make a difference.
This is a role for someone who can hit the ground running, take initiative, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment focused on conservation and land management.
The post is hosted by Dartmoor National Park Authority and will be based in Princetown and Parke but will involve some travelling around Dartmoor.
