About the Role:
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to join our catering team within a Care Home environment. You’ll play a key role in supporting the preparation and delivery of nutritious meals for our patients, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene, safety, and service.
About the service:
The Dallingtons provides patient-centred open rehabilitation for men with chronic mental health, functional illnesses, and dementia between its two units. These two units are on a site with a lovely mature leafy garden and shared therapy space.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and serving of meals, snacks, and beverages
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, dining areas, and equipment in line with health and safety regulations
- Support with basic food preparation tasks under the supervision of the cook or chef
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, and ensure everything is stored properly
- Receive, unpack, and store food deliveries in accordance with food hygiene standards
- Ensure food is labelled and stored correctly to reduce waste and prevent contamination
- Follow all infection control policies and procedures, especially in a clinical environment
- Assist in serving meals to patients and ensuring dietary requirements are met
- Work collaboratively with kitchen staff, clinical teams, and support services

Requirements:
- Previous experience in a kitchen, catering, or hospitality role (preferred but not essential)
- Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety standards
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to undertake training, including food hygiene and health & safety courses
- Flexible and adaptable with a caring and respectful attitude toward patients
Desirable:
- Food Hygiene Level 2 Certificate
- Experience working in a hospital, care home, or healthcare setting
