Citi Global Wealth at Work is a partner to lawyers, accountants, asset managers and management professionals with deep industry specific expertise. The Wealth at Work Investment Counsellor is a trusted advisor serving High Net Worth and Ultra High Net Worth professionals. This role is based in London, a key market for our business globally, with potential for client coverage beyond UK in the EMEA region.

Responsibilities:

  • Investment counsellors joining Citi Wealth will be distinguished and highly accomplished at establishing, growing, and managing investment relationships. They should be experienced in the implementation and oversight of investment solutions, and in providing advice and guidance on markets and actionable investment ideas. Appropriate candidates will possess the credibility to cultivate trusting relationships with established clients and with prospective clients. Candidates for the position should be collaborative and team oriented, able to leverage a wide array of internal partners.
  • Build and manage a successful practice centered on deepening relationships by providing potential and existing clients with appropriate investment advice and solutions.
  • Combine in depth knowledge of traditional and alternative investments with wealth planning and private banking services to optimize client service and cross-marketing opportunities.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and clients.
  • Successful team player with ability to work individually under stress in possibly volatile market conditions.
  • Possess high level of professionalism and strong personal integrity.
  • High level of competence in Bloomberg, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong creative and interpersonal skills coupled with an entrepreneurial spirit and selling skills.
  • Possesses a broad base of execution skills.
  • Requires advanced judgment and conducts in-depth analysis to solve problems and develop new, innovative solutions.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Experience of the financial industry, preferably in a trading or advisory role.
  • Investment, banking and either portfolio management or trading experience.
  • Excellent relationship building skills, both with clients, and across hierarchical levels and other functions
  • Ability to cope with ambiguity & change.
  • Ability to challenge status quo and continuously optimize processes and tasks in own area of responsibility.

Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate Degree Educated or equivalent preferred, however exceptional candidates with relevant experience will be considered.
  • CFA or equivalent registration preferred.
  • Will be expected to complete relevant regulatory qualifications.
  • Fluent English.
  • Other European languages a plus.


Candidates applying for this role must be aware that it is a Certified Role, subject to the FCA and PRA Certification Regime.

The Certification Regime is one element of the Individual Accountability Regime which came into effect on 7 March 2016.

Under the Certification Regime, Citi UK regulated entities (Citi entities) must ensure that employees working in certain roles categorised as specified significant harm functions (Certified Roles) are assessed as fit and proper to carry out their role.

Under the guidance provided by the FCA and PRA, firms should have regard to the following when assessing fitness and propriety:

  • Honesty, integrity and reputation
  • Financial soundness
  • Competence and capability

In order to comply with the requirements of the Certification Regime, Citi entities must take reasonable care to ensure that an employee does not perform a Certified Role without first being certified as Fit and Proper. For this reason, you will be assessed for this role against the Fit and Proper requirements, as described above.

This assessment will be carried out through extensive interviews, self-disclosures, permitted criminal record checks, regulated reference checks, credit checks and other background screening check
