Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) Role

Location: Coventry
Salary: £12.82 per hour
Hours: 30-40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend availability (Saturday or Sunday)

Her Safe Network is dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic abuse, including both men and women, as well as those with pets who are often overlooked in traditional refuge settings.
We’re seeking a passionate, skilled, and empathetic Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) to join our team.
As an IDVA, you’ll play a vital role in providing trauma-informed, client-centered support to survivors of domestic abuse, helping them navigate their journey to safety, independence, and well-being.
What You’ll Do
- Be the first point of contact for survivors, providing compassionate and professional support.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop tailored safety and support plans.
- Deliver strengths-based, needs-led advocacy to empower survivors to make informed choices.
- Collaborate with housing providers, law enforcement, and other agencies to address client needs.
- Provide crisis intervention and connect clients to appropriate resources.
- Advocate for survivors in accessing housing, legal assistance, and other essential services.
- Maintain accurate, confidential case records in line with organizational policies.
- Ensure safeguarding measures are in place, prioritizing client safety.
- Provide daily (Monday-Friday) onsite support to clients.
- Support both male and female survivors, including those accompanied by pets, ensuring inclusive and sensitive service delivery.
About You
- Qualifications/Experience: IDVA qualification or significant experience in a similar role within the domestic abuse or related sector.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of domestic abuse dynamics, including the barriers and challenges survivors face.
- Skills: Excellent risk management, communication, and advocacy skills with an ability to handle crisis situations effectively.
- Values: A commitment to trauma-informed practice, collaboration, and empowering survivors.
- Understanding: Familiarity with housing systems, welfare rights, and safeguarding procedures.
