Dalhousie Castle, Scotland’s oldest inhabited castle, is currently undergoing a £5 million refurbishment to elevate its facilities while preserving its historic charm. As Housekeeping Supervisor, you will play a key leadership role during this transformation, ensuring that both newly refurbished and existing areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise daily housekeeping operations, ensuring standards are met across refurbished rooms, public areas, heritage spaces, and spa facilities.
- Support the Executive Housekeeper with team scheduling, training, and performance management during a time of operational change.
- Inspire, guide, and coach the housekeeping team to maintain consistency across refurbished and non-refurbished areas during the transition.
Refurbishment Coordination
- Work closely with maintenance, project managers, and other departments to prepare new rooms and areas for guest use.
- Assist in deep-cleaning schedules, post-renovation snagging checks, and phased handovers of completed refurbishment zones.
- Adapt procedures and quality checks to align with new materials, furnishings, and finishes introduced during the refurbishment.
Quality Control & Guest Experience
- Conduct regular inspections of rooms and public spaces—including refurbished suites—to ensure brand and safety standards are upheld.
- Manage priorities in real-time to support VIP arrivals, weddings, and spa experiences, especially as refurbished areas open.
- Handle guest feedback with professionalism and ensure rapid follow-up on service recovery where needed.
Inventory & Stock Control
- Maintain and reorder supplies, equipment, and linen, adjusting inventories as room styles and layouts evolve.
- Ensure appropriate use of new cleaning products introduced during the refurbishment, especially for delicate or luxury materials.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Enforce COSHH and Health & Safety compliance, particularly in new areas where layout and regulations may have changed.
- Oversee training on new equipment and revised cleaning protocols associated with refurbished spaces.
Team Collaboration & Communication
- Liaise with Front Office, Maintenance, and Food & Beverage to ensure seamless guest experiences during renovation phases.
- Maintain open communication channels with senior management about the impact of refurbishment on housekeeping operations.

✅ Requirements & Skills:
- 1–2 years of supervisory housekeeping experience, ideally in a heritage or luxury hotel.
- Familiarity with housekeeping protocols for both traditional and modern interiors.
- Strong leadership, communication, and attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt quickly and work effectively during periods of change or disruption.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings, especially during refurbishment deadlines or event periods.
- Understanding of COSHH, Health & Safety, and use of cleaning technologies.
