HLTA – SEMH School (Near Lewes)
Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm
Are you a skilled and compassionate HLTA ready to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children with social, emotional, and mental health needs? We are looking for a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our specialist SEMH school just outside Lewes , East Sussex.
This is a multi-site role offering variety, challenge, and the chance to work closely with small groups of pupils in a highly supportive and therapeutic environment.
About the Role
As our HLTA, you will:
- Support and lead learning activities across multiple sites.
- Deliver planned lessons and interventions under the guidance of teaching staff.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to support emotional regulation and engagement.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to meet individual needs. Contribute to a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
What We’re Looking For
- HLTA status or equivalent experience.
- Experience working with SEMH pupils or in specialist settings.
- A driver’s licence and access to a vehicle (essential due to location and multi-site nature). A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting vulnerable learners.

Location
Our school is set in a peaceful rural location just outside Lewes, East Sussex. Due to limited public transport, driving is essential .
