Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join the team at G&P Healthcare Ltd. G&P Healthcare are a double award-winning, CQC registered home healthcare company.

The ideal candidate will provide essential support to patients in various settings, including home environments, hospitals, out on daily activities and potentially at respite. This role requires effective communication skills, the ability to follow care plans, and a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those under our care.

ABOUT THE CLIENT:

Our client is a young male teenager who lives in Castle Donnington on alternate weekends. He requires full time carers to assist him with personal cares and provide complex medical interventions throughout the day with his Dad.

He has epilepsy and cerebral palsy, amongst other complex conditions, and needs full support to be able to live as comfortably and independently as possible. He needs support from carers to maintain his airway.

We are recruiting for day shifts on alternate weekends in Castle Donnington and traveling to Ilkeston during the week.

He needs staff members that he can build bonds and trustworthy relationships with; he is non-verbal and will need someone who is caring and understanding. You must be friendly, outgoing, strong-minded and dedicated. He needs a fully dedicated and reliable team in place to support him alongside his family. He attends a respite day centre when he is well.

Previous experience with epilepsy is desirable but not essential. Our client requires at least one carer to be in the house with him at all times and will need a good relationship with them, so they feel like part of the family. You will regularly work alongside his parents to help provide outstanding care. He requires complex medical interventions, and you will be trained fully in all aspects of care.

Although you will be a lone worker, you will regularly work alongside other team members during handovers and double ups, and alongside his family to assist with cares, as well as other care companies and healthcare professionals who also assist him day to day.

You will stay with him all day, and monitor and assist him as needed. You will be required to assist with everyday needs such as nutrition, personal care, keeping him comfortable and safe. He has a car that you can go out with him in to do different activities. You will also be required to assist with complex medical interventions such as medication administration, seizure management, suctioning, oxygen administration, PEG feeds and much more. We will provide exceptional training for this from our nurses.

REQUIREMENTS:

· 6 months previous care experience is essential

· You MUST be a car driver/owner, or willing to travel to the Ilkeston or Castle Donnington area.

· Clear DBS is required.

· The ability to learn new complex skills.

· Willingness to work, be reliable and complete all aspects of training we provide

Duties

· Assist patient with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility.

· Support the implementation of individualised care plans tailored to each patient's needs.

· Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.

· Maintain accurate records of patient progress and any changes in their condition.

· Drive to patients' homes as required for home care services.

· Use IT systems for documentation and reporting purposes as necessary.

· Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in healthcare practices.

Qualifications

· Previous experience in care is essential.

· Understanding of care plans and the ability to implement them effectively.

· Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

· A valid driving licence and own car is desirable unless you are able to travel.

· A caring attitude with a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.

· Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.

TRAINING:

Complex care training will be given by one of our nurses to meet the needs of each client. This can include: Seizure Management, Ventilator, Oxygen administration, Tracheostomy, Peg Feed, Suction, Catheter training and much more. We offer full training for all aspects of his care and will provide shadowing shifts with our experienced staff. You will be given 24-hour support from our nurses and senior staff. There are plenty of opportunities to progress within the company.

DAYS AND WAKING NIGHT SHIFTS AVAILABLE:

13hr Days
