Mower’s Ark CIC is a specialist Christian Day Service in Northamptonshire for young people with Learning Disabilities, Autism and Sensory Impairments.
We are looking for a compassionate Health Care Support Worker who will work in the Ark area of our service, working with young people with profound learning disabilities and complex health needs.
You will: -
- Provide care in accordance with best practice and legislative requirements, reflecting policies and procedures and agreed standards under the direction of the Management Team
- Always Follow Individual Care & Support plans.
- Support individuals with their personal care and hygiene, which includes using the bathroom, washing, dressing, shaving, and oral hygiene.
- Monitor health and wellbeing, such as taking vital signs and reporting changes.
- Support individuals with their nutritional needs, including feeding and administering fluids including via Gastrostomy Tube.
- · Follow individual SALT guidelines and monitoring for signs of dysphagia
- Support customers to complete their prescribed physiotherapy and/or occupational therapy programmes which includes; use of standing frames, lying wedges, postural positioning aids, walkers and exercise balls when needed.
- Assist customers to access hydrotherapy sessions and providing them with water-based physiotherapy.
- Support customers to take part in health and wellbeing activities including swimming (going in the water), horseriding, sailing, trampolining etc.
- Provide emotional support to customers.
- Support customers to build and maintain meaningful relationships with their peers and others.
- Supporting customers with complex behaviour needs, following Behaviour support guidelines at all times.
- Support individual customers at different times, showing a flexible approach and being able to support people with a wide range of differing needs.
- Support customers to develop their communication by use of PECs/Symbols, eye gaze and switch operated technology.
- Support customers to be involved as possible in every part of their lives so that they can become as full and active members of their community as possible.
- Support and enable customers to develop and maintain skills and personal interests whilst delivering personalised care unique to each individual.
- Maintain and develop skills, undertaking additional training and development as required.
- Maintain records in line with organisational policies and procedures
- Promote the safeguarding and welfare of the customers at all times
- Reflect on your own practice, seeking feedback and looking at improvement, being open to constructive criticism
