At Sheffield Forgemasters we have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Risk to join our Legal team.

This role is based at our 64-acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield. Our Legal department plays a vital role in ensuring the business operates within legal and regulatory frameworks while minimising risk. It safeguards the company’s interests through providing guidance and delivery of contract management, regulatory compliance, dispute resolution, and corporate governance, while also advising on health, safety and environmental regulations. .

As the Head of Risk, you will lead and drive a new risk and compliance culture including identifying with process owners a wide range of risk, and compliance issues. Agreeing mitigations and monitoring closure or amending of risk actions.


What you’ll be doing

  • Collaborating and engaging with the Risk Community of Practice members and stakeholders to provide updates, maintenance of Risk Bowties, KRIs, mitigations and risk heatmaps.
  • Regularly engaging with mitigation owners to monitor risk profile and effectiveness of activities and controls.
  • Leading the maintenance and development of risk related analysis, identify root cause and enabling decision making at the board.
  • Be the principal point of contact for all risk related issues and risk updates for both the Risk CoP and wider stakeholders.
  • Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.


About You

  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Specialist project and / or risk management qualification.
  • Change management, project and / or risk management experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or operational environment.
  • Ability to identify, analyse, assess and mitigate operational and commercial risk.
  • Ability to review large data sets to evaluate issues and provide advice and recommendations.
  • Strong relationship builder at all levels, including senior management.

The Working Pattern

This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday. We offer flexibility in our start and finish times between 06:15 - 09:30 and 14:30 – 18:00.

Security

Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check. Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. People working with government / MOD assets must complete Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks.

These restrictions mean that factors such as your nationality, any nationalities you may have previously held, and your place of birth can restrict the roles you are eligible to perform within the organisation. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 - 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
