Schedule: 42.5 hours per week | Monday – Friday | 08:00 – 17:00

Overview:We are seeking an experienced and proactive Head of Passive Fire to lead and manage our fire stopping and compartmentation operations across multiple sites. Reporting to theOperations Manager and managing a team of Passive Fire Engineers, this role involves full lifecycle project oversight—from surveying and design through to completion and compliance reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical understanding of fire protection systems, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage fire stopping and compartmentation projects from start to finish, including on-site coordination and subcontractor oversight.
- Conduct and document surveys for all allocated remedial works using Flow.
- Develop fire stopping designs and generate detailed materials lists within 24 hours of survey completion.
- Ensure all staff are equipped with correct PPE, uniform, and tooling for assigned tasks.
- Oversee subcontracted works, ensuring quality standards and compliance are met.
- Complete quality audits including Work Quality, Engineering Engagement, and Competency Assessments.
- Issue completed reports within 24 hours of project completion.
- Maintain and update live job trackers as required.
- Attend and contribute to monthly health & safety meetings and operational reviews.
- Ensure FIRAS/IFC accreditations are maintained throughout all project stages.
- Conduct monthly site and van safety audits; manage non-conformances to resolution within defined timeframes.
- Ensure timely and accurate service reports via Big Change for all North/South remedial jobs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to meet health & safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction goals.
- Support technical documentation updates, toolbox talks, and bulletins aligned with new legislation.
- Assist in recruitment and onboarding of engineering staff.
- Approve holidays and report sickness/absence to HR and Planners for scheduling adjustments.
- Carry out probation review meetings and approve successful sign-offs.
- Support Sales Team with required RAMS and project-specific documentation.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience in managing passive fire projects and engineering teams.
- Strong working knowledge of fire stopping, compartmentation, and industry standards.
- Familiarity with compliance platforms such as FIRAS, IFC, Big Change, and Flow.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
- Capable of producing detailed technical and compliance documentation.
- Health & Safety awareness, with a proactive approach to audits and training.
Qualifications:
- Industry certifications in Passive Fire Protection (e.g. FIRAS / IFC-accredited training)
- Relevant NVQ or equivalent qualification in construction, fire safety, or building services (preferred)
- SMSTS or similar site safety qualification (desirable)

NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Fire Protection, Construction, or Building Services
Proven experience managing passive fire stopping and compartmentation projects
Experience leading and supervising engineering teams
Strong knowledge of UK Fire Safety Regulations and Building Regulations
Familiarity with compliance systems (e.g. Big Change, Flow, FIRAS, IFC)
SMSTS or SSSTS qualification (Site Safety)
Valid UK Driving Licence
