Our charity headquarters and forward operating base are located at Rochester Airport, with our aircraft hangar and maintained at Redhill Aerodrome. When the call comes, we can reach any part of Kent, Surrey or Sussex in under 30 minutes.
We are looking for a Head of Aviation to provide visible and effective operational aviation leadership to ensure the delivery of highest level of aviation provision, safety and compliance from our current supplier.
To form an intrinsic part of the Service Delivery Management Team (SDMT) and to participate in the organisations tactical on call roster. Provide effective strategic and tactical support as part of the SDMT in the wider organisational programme.
To lead on areas of aviation and aviation management, including the scoping and undertaking of bespoke relevant projects such as the options open to KSS on expiration of our existing service contracts
To perform this role effectively, the postholder must possess a strong foundation in aviation leadership, ideally with experience as a Post-Holder in a CAA-regulated HEMS environment. Essential qualifications include a relevant degree or equivalent experience, with a deep understanding of aviation legislation, regulatory compliance, and safety management systems. The role demands proven leadership in fast-paced operational settings, with expertise in contract and technical management, strategic planning, and change management. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are critical, alongside the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and champion a culture of safety, compliance, and operational excellence. Desirable attributes include resilience, sound judgement, commercial acumen, and the ability to lead complex projects and cross-functional teams while maintaining alignment with organisational goals and values.
