We are looking for a hard-working General Farm Worker/Poultry Worker. This person will be responsible for a range of tasks related to the care and management of poultry, cattle and arable. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. There are opportunities to learn new skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Animal Care: Feeding, watering, and monitoring the health of poultry and cattle. Identifying and reporting any health issues to the Farm Manager.
- Cleaning and Maintenance: Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene within poultry houses, including mucking out, disinfecting, and ensuring proper bedding. Also maintaining farm machinery for broad spectrum of operations.
- Egg Collection and Handling: Collecting, grading, and packing eggs, ensuring all eggs are handled carefully and stored correctly.
- Farm Operations: Assisting with the daily operation of the farm, including operating machinery and equipment as needed. This will include tractor driving and helping at busy times such as harvest, cultivating and silaging.
- Cattle Management: Extra assistance around calving time may be required as well as the general management of suckler herd and finishing cattle.
- Biosecurity: Adhering to strict biosecurity measures to prevent the spread of disease. Ensuring all visitors and workers comply with biosecurity protocols.
- Health and Safety: Following all health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for all staff and animals.
- Team Collaboration: Working collaboratively with other farm workers and supporting the Farm Manager as required.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in poultry farming or a similar agricultural role is preferred.
- Basic understanding of animal welfare and husbandry practices.
- Ability to perform physical tasks and work in varying weather conditions.
- Good observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment (training will be provided if necessary).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Basic record-keeping and organisational skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends.
- Time-keeping.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Pay: £7.55-£15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 50 per week
