You’ll take the reins on all legal, regulatory, and compliance matters, shaping a function that ensures we grow responsibly, ethically, and with purpose.
As General Counsel, you’ll act as the key legal advisor to the CEO and Board, influencing giffgaff’s long-term vision and ensuring compliance with complex regulatory landscapes. You’ll lead a high-performing legal and regulatory team, manage relationships with industry regulators, and embed a culture of integrity across the organisation. Our bright and modern gaff is in Uxbridge, in leafy West London. But if commuting isn’t your favourite, most of our roles can be hybrid or work from home, or anywhere in between. If you like coming in, you’ll always find some office buddies. And if you like big occasions, we really bring the office to life monthly for our themed culture days. Plus, all our giffgaffers come together at our legendary giffgaff summer, birthday and Christmas celebrations.
In order to be considered, you must have the following experience;
- Demonstrated success in leading legal functions at the Head of Legal level, with experience operating at General Counsel or equivalent senior legal leadership level, ideally within the technology or telecoms sector.
- Deep expertise in legal operations, corporate governance, and regulatory frameworks in fast-paced, highly regulated environments.
- Strong understanding of UK telecoms regulation and compliance, particularly with Ofcom, ICO, CMA, and ASA.
- Extensive experience advising Boards, CEOs, and Executive teams on legal, risk and compliance issues that influence business strategy and transformation.
- Proven ability to lead and grow high-performing legal and regulatory teams, with a focus on inclusion, culture, and people development.

- A collaborative, passionate leadership style with excellent influencing and interpersonal skills.
- A track record of effectively managing external legal budgets, ensuring value and quality from outside counsel.
- Strong working knowledge of data privacy (GDPR), marketing and commercial law.
- A pragmatic and solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and fast-changing landscapes.
- Passion for ethical, purpose-led business, and alignment with giffgaff’s values around community, inclusion, and sustainability.
