Have you been on a journey that has seen you support children or young people - perhaps in education, care, or wellbeing roles?
Have you ever wondered whether you could make that difference from your own home?
With Foster Wales, you can take the experience you already have and use it in the most powerful way possible: by offering stability and belonging to a young person who needs it most.
About the role
Foster carers open their homes and hearts to children and young people who can’t live with their birth families, providing a safe, stable, and supportive environment. Children may stay on a short-term basis, lasting just a few days or weeks, or on a long-term basis, continuing for several years.
Fostering is often a life-changing journey - not just for the child, but for the carer too. As a foster carer, you’ll work alongside a committed team to support young people through challenging times, helping them feel secure, rebuild trust, and reach their full potential.
We are looking for compassionate individuals from all walks of life to join our fostering family in Cardiff and The Vale of Glamorgan.
We’re looking for people who:
- Have experience supporting children or young people
- Can offer a stable, nurturing home environment
- Have a spare bedroom to dedicate to a young person
- Can commit to caring for a young person full-time
- Are willing to learn, reflect, and work closely with a professional team
Qualifications and Experience
No prior fostering experience is necessary. The only requirements are that you:
- Are at least 21 years old
- Have a spare bedroom
- Have permanent leave to remain in the UK
Foster Wales always want to bring out the potential in our applicant foster carers. We provide comprehensive continuous training, including a three-day ‘Skills to Foster’ course, to help you build the skills and confidence needed for this rewarding role.
