We are looking for individuals with exceptional communication skills and a passion for public service to become Force Control Room (FCR) Call Handlers within Gloucestershire Constabulary.
About the role
As a Call Handler, you will be part of an inclusive team of professionals delivering an excellent service to the public.
You will work in an environment which changes from minute-to-minute. No two days will be the same as you ensure that the public feel valued; helping to build confidence in the police service. You will be dealing with emergency and non-emergency contact via a variety of channels.
As a Call Handler, you will receive calls from members of the public who may be distressed and in a time critical situation. You will need to take control, gain relevant information and make dynamic decisions whilst being empathetic, compassionate and supportive.
Please note the shift pattern as a Call Handler will be working a 24/7 pattern and includes bank holidays and weekends.
This position attracts a shift allowance of 34.32%, which commences after the completion of the initial training course when the successful applicants start working the 24/7 shift pattern.

Initial training period:
- Scale 4 salary = £26,106 - £28,653
Following successful completion of initial training and commencing 24/7 shift pattern:
- Scale 4 salary with shift allowance (34.32%) = £35,065 - £36,664
