We are currently seeking an experienced Fire Door Surveyor to join our growing team. This role is crucial to ensuring our clients’ buildings meet the highest fire safety standards and comply with current legislation. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of fire doors, excellent attention to detail, and experience in carrying out detailed fire door inspections and producing compliant reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out thorough fire door surveys across a variety of properties including residential, commercial, healthcare, and educational buildings.
- Inspect fire doors for compliance with current regulations (BS 476, BS EN 1634, and BS 8214).
- Identify non-compliances, defects, and remedial actions required.
- Provide clear, detailed, and accurate reports using appropriate software or documentation formats.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to explain findings and provide expert recommendations.
- Support the wider fire protection team with technical advice relating to fire doors and passive fire elements.
- Stay up-to-date with relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in fire door surveying and inspections (ideally 2+ years).
- In-depth knowledge of relevant fire door standards and legislation.
- FIRAS, BM TRADA Q-Mark or similar accreditation highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- IT literate with experience using reporting software or survey tools.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites as required.
Desirable:
- Experience with passive fire protection systems and general fire safety assessments.
- Additional qualifications in fire safety or construction.
