Job Title: Finance Assistant
Location: Great Barford, Bedfordshire
Reports to: Financial Controller
Working Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8.30 – 17.00
Contract Type: Permanent/ Full-time
Job Purpose
To support the finance team in the delivery of accurate financial processing, record-keeping, and reporting. This role is vital in ensuring the day-to-day accounting operations run smoothly and that financial procedures are followed in compliance with company policies and relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Process purchase invoices, sales invoices, and expense claims
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Update and maintain accounting records and ledgers
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Support VAT return preparation and other statutory submissions
- Liaise with suppliers and customers to resolve queries
- Occasional Credit Control duties
- Maintain accurate filing systems for financial documents
- Provide administrative support to the finance team as needed
Person Specification
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience working in a finance or accounting role
- Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Sage 50
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
Desirable
- AAT qualified or studying towards AAT
- Experience in a similar industry or sector
