Join Sefton Council as a Senior Social Worker – Make a Real Difference

Are you an experienced and passionate social worker ready to take the next step in your career? Join us during this exciting time at Sefton Council as we continue our long-term commitment to children and families.

Sefton Council is looking for a number of dedicated Senior Social Workers to join our dynamic Team Around the Baby (TAB) which was established in June 2024.

TAB is Sefton’s pre- and post-birth assessment and intervention service, working with expectant parents who have lost previous children to care, or where there is a high risk of state intervention at birth. The aim of the team is to keep families together where it is safe to do so, and work intensively in the pre-birth period to achieve permanence for babies from birth.

TAB is an innovative service which has sparked interest from across the region for its creative, tenacious and transformative approach to supporting families, some of whom are facing the most difficult of circumstances.

Applicants must have child protection experience and be highly skilled communicators who are curious and compassionate. This is a uniquely rewarding role and an opportunity to change the course of people’s lives.

Why Choose Sefton Council?

At Sefton Council, we are committed to investing in our people. Our vision is to grow and nurture our own talent, creating a strong and professional workforce dedicated to the well-being of children and families in our communities. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Small Teams, Big Impact: Be a valued member of our close-knit teams.
  • Manageable Workload: Maintain work-life balance with manageable responsibilities.
  • Strong Supervision and Support: Access regular supervision and professional development.
  • Commitment to Excellence: Uphold high standards in supporting and safeguarding children and families.

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary - Grade I: SCP 31–35, £41,711 - £46,142 per annum
  • Fantastic terms and conditions; local government pension scheme, enhanced sick pay scheme and family friendly leave with pay, agile/flexible working opportunities and access to occupational health services.
  • Generous annual leave entitlement of 28 days increasing to 33 days after 5 years continual service in addition to 8 bank holidays.
  • A £3,000 Golden Hello after successful probation
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression
  • A strong culture of supervision, reflection, and support

What we’re looking for:

  • A qualified social worker with extensive experience in statutory children’s services
  • SWE registration
  • A confident, skilled communicator with a strong grasp of legislation, assessment frameworks, and child-centred practice

If you're ready to make a lasting impact and grow your career in a supportive and ambitious environment, we’d love to hear from you.
