Livingwell Care Limited are an established CQC registered care provider based in South Birmingham. We specialise in providing care and support to individuals within their own homes.
We are recruiting 2 part time experienced carers for a specialist complex care package in B92 area.
The aim of the job is to provide support and assistance to a young woman (27) with complex health and care needs in a family home setting who requires close supervision on a minimum of 1-1 or 2-1 basis depending on the activity. Undertaking of all required clinical and non-clinical routines and independently follow complex care plans, ensuring her health and wellbeing is maintained to the highest standard whilst on duty
The young lady has an extremely rare chromosome disorder and has profound multiple learning and physical disabilities, she is nonverbal, wheelchair bound, partially sighted, doubly incontinent, autistic, Type 1 diabetic. The young lady has a very pleasant disposition and will engage on her terms when supported and encouraged with the right empathy, persuasion, and reassurance.
This role requires 2 experienced complex care professionals who will be committed to these roles over the long term, as there is a need to build trust, rapport, and confidence with the young lady and her family.
Tasks will include :-
Medication Administration, incontinence care routines, Skin integrity care routines, Physiotherapy care plan support, Epilepsy care plan support, Dressing and personal hygiene, feeding and meal preparation, preparing and keeping living areas (bedroom and wet room) safe, clean, and tidy.
Provide companionship and support in accessing the world beyond her home, maintains an awareness of local and regional community activities and opportunities e.g., attending activities, walks, hydrotherapy sessions, supports planned respite activities. Attending periodic healthcare appointments. Assist with tests, evaluations, and observations as and when required.
Core hours required:
Mornings: Monday to Friday 07:45-09:45
Evenings: Tuesday and Thursday 16:00 to 19:30
Weekend, Saturday 08:30-12:30
These hours are a starting point as the care team and the package are established and developed. The hours will have to scope to grow to include longer evenings, Sunday, over nights once the team is settled and good working relationships have been developed.
Applicants should have:-
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience working with young adults with complex care needs, profound multiple learning, and physical disabilities.
- Have completed training in Mandatory courses such as Moving and Positioning, Medication, Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Infection Control, First Aid. (Full training updates will be provided as necessary.)
Desirable but not essential –
Full UK Driving Licence (care team could have access to family mobility vehicle for activities)
NVQ Qualification - or willingnes to work towards this qualification.
Applicants should be sensitive and empathetic, passionate and committed, able to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team. They should be reliable, flexible and proactive.
Applicants will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check. Reference will be required.
Rate of pay £14.50-£16.00 per hour.
