Role Description
We are seeking a motivated and experienced individual to join our professional accountancy practice. The ideal candidate will have prior experience within an accountancy practice, strong technical knowledge of payroll and bookkeeping processes, and the ability to work with a range of accounting software.
successful candidate will be working in Hoddesdon /Harlow Area .
Payroll Duties:
- Carry out payroll operations within the practice for multiple clients.
- Calculate gross pay by considering hours worked, overtime, tax, National Insurance, and other relevant deductions.
- Process payslips and arrange electronic salary payments to employees.
- Administer holiday pay, sick pay, maternity and paternity pay in line with statutory requirements.
- Respond to employee queries regarding pay and deductions.
- Process PAYE/NIC deductions and submit payroll information to HMRC.
- Administer workplace pension contributions and submit information to pension providers.
CIS Duties:
- Obtain details of new sub-contractors and verify CIS tax deduction rates with HMRC.
- Prepare and submit monthly CIS returns.
- Arrange payment of CIS liabilities.
Bookkeeping Duties:
- Carry out bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Request and manage client records in the prescribed format.
- Liaise with clients to resolve queries and discrepancies.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns.
- Work across multiple accounting platforms including Sage Cloud, Sage 50, FreeAgent, QuickBooks, and Xero.
Additional Advantageous Skills (Not Essential):
- Preparation of accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies for review purposes. (Experience with TaxCalc is an advantage.)
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a professional accountancy practice (essential).
- Strong knowledge of payroll, VAT, and CIS compliance.
- Proficiency in cloud and desktop accounting software(Sage Cloud, Sage 50, FreeAgent, QuickBooks, and Xero. )
- Good communication skills for liaising with clients and HMRC.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
