An Electronics Workshop Supervisor is required manage and help with the safe design and manufacture of various electrical systems (incorporating commercial off the shelf electrical and electronic components) for QinetiQ. The candidate will be expected to manage a small team of technicians to produce cable harness designs, system and electrical circuit designs, unit assembly documentation, as well as getting heavily involved with the build, test, fault-finding and repair of such harnesses and systems. The home location for this role will be at the Farnborough site, working as part of a design/production team on a diversity of projects. Designs will be required for prototypes, one-offs and small batch assembly.
Key Accountabilities:
Day to day management of a small electronic workshop
Line management of a small team of electronic technicians
Harness and electrical unit/system design
Creation of full electrical, mechanical and assembly drawing packs, with minimal supervision.
Support and strong involvement with assembly and test activities.
Fault finding and rectification at system and component level.
Key Capabilities/Knowledge:
Electrical System design
Unit and Wire Harness design for assembly
Use of oscilloscope, Digital Volt Meters and general test equipment
Use of hand tools, crimp tools, soldering iron and heat gun
Self-motivated and able to track and complete tasks
IT literate – use of MS Office and able to use custom applications
Useful Secondary Capabilities/Knowledge:
Basic understanding of digital & analogue electronics
Valid UK driving licence
Awareness of relevant testing to harmonised standards
Qualifications:
Further education in Electrical or Electronic engineering (e.g ONC, HNC, HND) (There is the potential to make use of the apprentice levy for furthering education)
Skills commensurate with obtaining IPC standard (As part of the recruitment process an IPC soldering and a crimping test will be required)
