Job Summary
The Domestic Abuse Practitioner plays a crucial role in providing support and advocacy for individuals affected by domestic abuse. This position involves working closely with clients to assess their needs, develop safety plans, identify safeguarding concerns and connect them with appropriate resources. . This role requires a compassionate individual who is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of those experiencing domestic violence.
Duties
- Staff the helpline and coordinate client calls
- Conduct assessments to determine the needs of clients affected by domestic abuse.
- Develop and implement individualised safety plans in collaboration with clients.
- Provide emotional support and practical assistance to clients during crisis situations.
- Facilitate access to essential services, including immigration, benefits, health, housing, legal and counselling.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions and progress in accordance with organisational policies.
- Collaborate with other professionals and agencies to ensure comprehensive support for clients.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to domestic abuse issues.
Qualifications
- Experience working in a trauma informed domestic abuse environment, highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse and its impact on individuals and families.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to empathise with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and reporting.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable individuals and families.
- Relevant qualifications or training in social work, counselling, or a related field would be advantageous.
- Relevant experience working in the field of Domestic Abuse
