About Us
City AM is a leading business and finance newspaper, and we are looking for a talented Ad Operations Manager to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial in ensuring the seamless execution and optimisation of our digital advertising campaigns, and providing valuable insights into user behaviour for the wider team.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive individual to manage all our on-site digital channels and be at the forefront of data capturing. You'll be instrumental in delivering successful ad campaigns across our platforms, as well as championing a data-driven culture throughout the organisation. You will also be responsible for handling all relationships with off-site syndicated partners such as Apple News, Samsung News, and Reach PLC.
What You'll Be Doing
Digital Content
New Tech Implementation: Be comfortable with being uncomfortable and love all things Tech; looking at quality of life updates to help our journalists with WordPress plugins and looking at Third Party platforms.
Versatility on WordPress: Able to navigate this website building tool and find ways to improve our journalists' workflows and help them churn out content with quality of life updates and plugins.
Email Marketing: Strong understanding of HTML and are able to remedy any small problems with client emails. Able to build a Solus Email with images, text and styling prompts.
Troubleshooting & Support: Assist in troubleshooting any platform issues that may arise from old or new Tech. Even better if you relish the challenge of the unknown and find ways to negate any further problems.
Reporting & Insights: Design and build custom reporting solutions, and communicate analytics findings and actionable recommendations to stakeholders.
Empowerment & Education: Collaborate with internal teams to help them better understand user behavior and leverage insights for business goals.
Ad Operations
Campaign Management: Own the setup and management of on-site video, display, and custom ad campaigns across City AM (desktop, mobile, and the app).
Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor campaign pacing and performance, optimise delivery in real-time, and proactively troubleshoot any issues.
Inventory & Risk Management: Forecast inventory availability and flag potential delivery risks early to ensure smooth execution.
Quality Assurance: Meticulously QA creatives and tags to guarantee proper execution and accurate measurement.
Brand Safety tools: Have experience with DCM, IAS and DV.
Reporting: Generate comprehensive reports, insights, and screenshots for both internal and external stakeholders.
Ad Tech Evolution: Contribute to the selection and implementation of future ad technology and workflow tools.
What We're Looking For
Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience in ad operations (video & display), with a strong understanding of campaign workflows, ad trafficking, and execution across multiple channels.
Ad Tech Proficiency: Demonstrated experience with Google Ad Manager 360 (GAM), SSPs, and DSPs (e.g., The Trade Desk, Magnite).
Technical Acumen: Strong grasp of ad specifications, tagging, and the execution of both direct and programmatic delivery. Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and GAM custom templates.
Troubleshooting Expertise: Excellent troubleshooting skills and a sharp attention to detail.
Data Tools: Proficient in Excel, Google Sheets, and various reporting tools.
GAM Knowledge: Familiarity with GAM first-party and third-party targeting.
Industry Standards: Solid knowledge of advertising industry standards such as VAST/VPAID, RTB, GDPR, Invalid Traffic (IVT), and Brand Safety.
Analytics Tools: Experience with Google Analytics and/or other web analytics tools.
Process Improvement: Experience designing or improving operational processes and systems.
Collaboration & Adaptability: Ability to work cross-functionally, manage multiple stakeholders under tight timelines, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-change environment.
Team Player: A collaborative individual who can also work effectively independently.
Problem-Solving: A proactive approach to problem-solving, always looking for ways to streamline workflows and reduce friction.
