Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Deli Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and customer service, with the ability to assist customers in selecting deli products while ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality. This role involves food preparation, maintaining cleanliness in the deli area, and providing excellent service to enhance the customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers with their deli selections, providing knowledgeable recommendations and upselling products when appropriate.
- Prepare various deli items, including meats, cheeses, salads, and sandwiches, adhering to food safety standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the deli counter and kitchen area, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
- Handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently while providing excellent customer service.
- Monitor stock levels and assist in inventory management by reporting low stock items to management.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during peak hours.
- Engage in basic maths for pricing and weighing products accurately for customers.
- Demonstrate effective time management skills to complete tasks efficiently during busy periods.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a restaurant or culinary environment is preferred but not essential.
- Strong understanding of food safety practices and hygiene standards.
- Basic maths skills for handling transactions and product measurements.
- Excellent communication skills with a friendly demeanour towards customers.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing time efficiently.
- A willingness to learn new skills related to food preparation and customer service.
- Flexibility to work various shifts as required by the business needs.
