The Company
We’re Octopus Legacy: one of the fastest growing tech companies in the country, part of the UK’s most exciting and best-trusted group (you may have heard of some of our sister companies…) and we have a mission.
We’re on a path to scale, aiming to become a household name while transforming a long-established industry and helping our customers prepare for, and find support after, death.
But we can’t do it alone, and that’s why we’re assembling a team of top performers to build with us.
Ready to be part of something big?
The Role
We’re hiring an M&A Associate to help us build out a major new outbound function as part of our mission to reach 1 million clients.
In this role, you’ll focus on expanding our business by reaching out to existing legal firms and starting the M&A conversation, similar to how Octopus Energy onboarded Bulb’s customers. While we can’t reveal all the details publicly (we can discuss post-NDAs), the scale and impact of this project are enormous.
You’ll also work closely with the Octopus M&A team to support onboarding and integration. To give a sense of the opportunity and progression, our Corporate Development Manager joined a year ago with no pipeline and built it from scratch, having now completed several deals including WSL Will Writing last month.
Similarly, you’ll step into their previous role with the head start of a strong pipeline and playbook already in place, but still have the opportunity to own the growth of the next phase, shape your own path and explore new verticals in future too.
Key Responsibilities
- Identifying and assessing potential acquisition opportunities
- Direct outreach and relationship building with business owners and managing directors
- Leading initial deal discussions and qualifying fit
- Supporting due diligence and deal structuring
- Helping onboard new firms and clients into Octopus Legacy
- Spotting opportunities to upsell and cross-sell services
Who Are You?
- You’re hungry, ambitious, and entrepreneurial. You love ownership and don’t wait for instructions: you make things happen.
- You have experience hitting targets (whether in sales, partnerships, or growth) and thrive on turning conversations into opportunities.
- You’re comfortable meeting business owners and managing directors, building trust quickly, and driving relationships forward.
- You’re resilient, solutions-focused, and excited to make a genuine impact at scale.
Our Mission
When people think about planning for death they think about wills, life insurance and funerals. We take these cold processes and turn them into something more human. Share more than money: leave voice notes, music, recipes. Shape a legacy that connects you while you're here. And after you're gone.
Founded by Sam after his mum died suddenly, we’re a group of people who work in death because we’ve been affected by it. We know the difference a good plan makes, and what it’s like when there isn’t one.
Death can come between us, leave mess, legal fees, frustration. But it can also make us stronger. We see a world where people talk openly about death, and work out the real meaning of legacy, one that connects to them. We’re here to make that world happen.
