About the role
Data is central to how MUBI grows, innovates, and creates great experiences for our members. We are expanding our data engineering team to continue building a modern, scalable data foundation that powers decision-making, experimentation, and machine learning across the company.
As a Data Engineer, you will focus on building and evolving our data infrastructure. This includes developing robust data pipelines, designing clean and efficient data models, and ensuring reliable data ingestion and transformation workflows. You will work closely with experienced engineers and data scientists to lay the technical groundwork that supports our broader analytics and machine learning efforts.
This is a great opportunity for someone with early career experience in data engineering who wants to grow their skills in a supportive, data-driven environment.
This role is based in London and requires 2-3 days at our MUBI offices in the heart of Soho.
Where you'll have impact:
Support and enhance the core data platform powering analytics and machine learning at MUBI.
Develop and maintain reliable, scalable data pipelines that move and transform large volumes of structured and semi-structured data.
Design and improve data models for data warehouse and analytics use cases.
Monitor and ensure data quality and reliability across the stack.
Contribute to the evolution of our data engineering practices, tools, and automation ensuring security and governance best practices are implemented.
Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and scientists to ensure data is accessible, documented, and trustworthy.
What you'll bring:
Essential requirements :
2–3 years of professional experience in a data engineering or similar role.
Strong SQL skills and proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language (e.g., Python).
Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT patterns, and modern data tools.
A solid understanding of version control (e.g., Git), testing, and code review practices.
A desire to build clean, maintainable systems and a strong sense of data responsibility.
Desired requirements :
Experience working in a cloud-based data environment such as Snowflake, AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Familiarity with data orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow) and transformation frameworks like dbt.
Exposure to real-time data streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka.
Basic understanding of containerisation and deployment technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
Interest in MLOps and a desire to learn how to operationalise and maintain machine learning models in production.
