The role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Counsellor to join our Family Support Team.

The St Richard’s Counselling Service sits within the Family Support Team and provides a specialist bereavement and pre-death counselling service to clients in South Worcestershire. The team also encompasses the Bereavement Support South Worcestershire Service, offering group support those dealing with a sudden or unexpected death.
The post holder will deliver support through one-to-one counselling sessions and therapeutic group work. The postholder will also be part of a rota to ensure cover for the Family Support and Bereavement Referral Line.
The role will require the individual to undertake comprehensive assessments, work as part of a team to meet the needs of patients and clients, and contribute to education of team members or other professionals. The postholder will manage their own caseload, be a committed and dedicated professional with a focus on meeting the needs individuals accessing our care and support.
The role is a 3 day post (22.5 hours) and may include occasional evening work.
This post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
About you
The ideal candidate will have a recognised degree/diploma in Counselling or Psychotherapy and hold membership of BACP or other appropriate professional body.
Experience of working with patients with an illness that cannot be cured, along with their families and carers, is essential to this role. Substantial knowledge in grief and loss, and a deep understanding of the emotional needs of bereaved people, is crucial.
This position involves facilitating therapeutic group support, therefore prior experience in group facilitation is required.
Due to the nature of this role a full clean UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential requirements for the role.
