Here at Human Appeal we have an exciting opportunity for a Copywriting Officer to join our team based in Cheadle, Greater Manchester. You will join us on a full-time basis as part of an initial 1-year fixed term contract with a view to progressing into a permanent role. In return, you will receive a market competitive salary depending on experience.

Human Appeal is a faith-based charity that aims to abolish poverty by providing humanitarian aid, sustainable development programs and championing advocacy for our beneficiaries worldwide.

As Copywriting Officer, the successful candidate will play an integral role delivering high-quality, accurate and engaging copy that supports Human Appeals day-to-day communications and campaigns, focusing on short-form content such as donor reports, social media copy, event materials, and scripts for video content where needed. This role ensures consistency and clarity while relieving pressure on senior copywriting capacity.

Were looking for a talented junior to Mid-weight Copywriter who can help us deliver engaging, polished copy across a range of formats from donor reports and social media posts to event materials and short video scripts.

This is a varied and hands-on role that requires strong writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt tone and messaging for different audiences and platforms. The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Copywriter and Content Manager to ensure all content meets our high standards for clarity, consistency, and brand voice.

    Key duties and responsibilities of the Copywriting Officer:

  • Timely delivery of consistent, on-brand copy across multiple formats.
  • Maintain accuracy and quality in all written materials.
  • Support internal workflows by taking on smaller writing tasks independently.

    What were looking for in our Copywriting Officer:

    Education: Degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing or equivalent professional experience.

    Experience: 13 years experience in copywriting or content writing, ideally across multiple platforms.

    Language: Fluent written and spoken English is essential. Additional languages, e.g. Arabic are desirable.

    Skills:

  • Ability to write clear, accurate, and engaging content aligned with brand tone.
  • Comfortable adapting writing style for social media, reports, print and video script formats.
  • Interest in humanitarian, charity, or community-focused work preferred.
  • Able to take briefs, self-manage workload, and deliver to deadlines.

    Key Competencies:

  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Audience awareness and ability to adjust tone for different channels.
  • Good organisational skills able to manage deadlines and concurrent briefs.
  • Collaborative mind set comfortable working alongside creative teams.
  • Adaptable and responsive to changing priorities and fast-moving work streams.
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about the international development sector.

  • Safeguarding bright futures for more than 22,000 vulnerable orphans in 9 countries. Our one-to-one sponsorship programme has a built-in school attendance requirement while covering the cost of food, housing, medical care, and learning materials.

  • Restoring safe and secure residential spaces in Syria, like the construction of a new town with 1,000 newly constructed homes in Al Zahoor.
