NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
Applications are invited for a full-time substantive Consultant post which will be based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with clinics operating at the New Victoria Hospital and Gartnavel General Hospital. The successful candidate will join a team of 17 established consultant doctors and one speciality doctor in providing care for medical inpatients at QEUH and outpatient Diabetes and Endocrine clinics across the three sites. There will also be a contribution to the oncall General Medicine rota which will include weekend activity in medical HDU, continuing care for diabetes/ endocrine and GIM inpatients in one of the department's 3 wards and contribution to medical receiving.
Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practice and be eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT. CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once CESR is awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training. MRCP UK or equivalent qualification is essential.
