We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Commis Chef to join the talented kitchen team at Novotel Manchester Centre. Whether you’re starting out in your chef career or looking to build on your experience, this is your chance to learn, grow, and develop your skills in a supportive and dynamic hotel kitchen.
- Assist in the preparation of dishes according to established recipes and standards
- Ensure the availability of mise-en-place as required by the kitchen team
- Maintain excellent food hygiene practices throughout the entire food chain, from storage to preparation and service
- Collaborate with senior chefs to learn new techniques and improve culinary skills
- Support the kitchen team in maintaining a clean and organized work environment
- Assist in inventory management and stock rotation
- Contribute creative ideas for menu development and food presentation
- Adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced kitchen setting
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance culinary knowledge and skills
Qualifications
- Passion for cooking and curiosity about food, with a willingness to try new combinations and flavors
- Basic culinary skills and knowledge of kitchen equipment and tools
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
- Strong attention to detail in food preparation and presentation
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced environment
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Positive attitude and eagerness to learn from experienced chefs
- A love of food and delivering an amazing service for the public
