The successful candidate will be responsible for representing Target’s commercial interests and providing commercial support across the contract lifecycle.
This role is predominantly home based but you will be asked to attend Newport or Cardiff office when required.
What does the role of Commercial Officer look like day to day?
- Proactively building and maintaining effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- Providing commercial guidance to the Accounts and/or opportunities on which you are deployed
- Drafting and supporting the negotiation of simple commercial agreements
- Providing advice to the business on Target’s contractual agreements
- Evaluating the suitability of commercial/pricing models and recommending adjustments to protect Target’s commercial interests
- Assessing commercial opportunity and risk to inform the bid process
- Generating the commercial elements of tender responses
- Advising on the flow down of contractual obligations to suppliers
- Ensuring that the appropriate commercial governance is applied to all bidding activity within your area of deployment
- Performing routine contract management activities
- Supporting the resolution of any contractual disputes with customers, working with internal stakeholders to reach outcomes beneficial to Target
Requirements
What experience are we looking for?
- Previous experience working in a customer-facing role and working with contracts
- Experience of performing complex business administration activities
- Undertaken formal training in commercial and contract management
- Experience of commercial fundamentals: drafting and interpreting contracts, generating priced proposals, negotiation and contract management
- Experience of implementing and improving commercial processes and procedures
- Is an enthusiastic team player, able to take initiative and to work independently
- Is able to work collaboratively with colleagues
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- High levels of drive and a proven ability to get things done
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to convey information in a way that others can follow
- Strong influencing skills and the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external customers
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work in complex and ambiguous situations
